This is a useful feature that programming IDEs have.
If you search for a word or do a spell check there can be a red line in the script scroll bar indicating where the incorrectly spelled word (or the word you are searching for) can be found. This allows you to jump easily to the right place in the document to check it.
It’s also a great quick visual aid to see how often a word is used or how awful a speller you are.
